One Flexible Panel, Several Integration Directions

Humanoid Robot Faces

Humanoid Robot Faces

A broad 4:3 image area provides room for eyes, expressions and status graphics. Both 6.67-inch and 8.01-inch panels can be considered when the head enclosure has sufficient space; select by the visible opening and intended expression layout.

Curved Device Interfaces

Curved Device Interfaces

Explore a supported curved display behind a shaped front cover. Review the display bend, mounting structure and cover separately to suit the product enclosure.

A matched HDMI kit helps evaluate graphics and mechanical integration with an external host. Confirm the controller version, supported timing, power connection and touch configuration.

8.01-Inch Flexible OLED Specifications

Panel characteristics and the documented HDMI reference kit are listed separately below. Final dimensions, electronics and touch configuration follow the approved drawing and quotation.

Display size8.01 inches
Display technologyFlexible AMOLED, self-emissive full color
Resolution2480 × 1860 pixels
Display aspect ratio4:3
Active area162.688 × 122.016 mm
Display colors16.7 million
FPC positionAlong the long edge of the panel; allow clearance for the bonding strip, flex tail and connector
Reference kit video inputHDMI Type A
Reference kit refresh rate30 Hz; the documented HDMI kit does not support input above 30 Hz
Reference kit power input12 V DC; confirm the supplied connector and adapter
Reference kit touchMulti-point touch via Micro USB where included; confirm the ordered configuration
Reference panel outline165.688 × 137.916 mm; confirm the final mechanical drawing and FPC envelope
Operating / storage temperature−20 to +70 °C / −30 to +80 °C, for the documented reference configuration
Bend specificationReference document lists R = 3.5 mm. Confirm the applicable panel construction, bend zone and use conditions before designing around this value.

The reference specification is KD080WQOIN035-CP001A-HDMI V2.0. Its 13.60 mm depth entry relates to the PCB assembly, not the flexible OLED film thickness. A stated bend radius is not a repeated-folding lifetime specification.

Design Around the Long-Edge FPC

Mechanical Space and Curvature

The FPC is attached to the long edge. Reserve space for the full bonding strip, flex tail, connector and strain relief—not only the active display rectangle.

Support the panel evenly and review the bend direction and installation profile. A curved screen does not imply that the panel can stretch to match a spherical face cover.

Driving Electronics and Content

Use compatible panel driving electronics or the matched HDMI kit. The documented kit operates at 2480 × 1860 and 30 Hz with a 12 V DC supply.

Confirm host output timing, image rotation, touch connection and controller placement. Bare-panel interface details must be checked against the selected panel specification.

From Display Evaluation to Product Integration

1. Define the Display Area

Share the application, visible opening, enclosure space, target curve and quantity. Include the face-cover and sensor layout for a humanoid robot.

2. Confirm the Configuration

Review the panel version, long-edge FPC clearance, controller, power supply and optional touch before sample approval.

3. Test in Your Enclosure

Evaluate expressions, viewing angles, image timing, thermal conditions and cable clearance in the actual product assembly.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can the 8.01-inch display be used in a humanoid robot face?

Yes. It can be considered for animated eyes, facial expressions and status graphics. Review the face opening, target curve, protective cover, sensor layout and long-edge FPC clearance together. Both 6.67-inch and 8.01-inch sizes can fit when the head structure provides sufficient space.

Where is the FPC attached?

The FPC is attached along the long edge. In a landscape layout it can be positioned along the bottom or top long edge by rotating the entire module; in portrait it runs along a vertical long edge. Its attachment position on the panel does not change.

What resolution and refresh rate does the reference HDMI kit support?

The documented reference kit specifies 2480 × 1860 at 30 Hz and warns that input above 30 Hz will not display. Confirm host timing with the selected controller before integration.

Is HDMI the bare panel interface?

HDMI is the video input of the matched controller kit. It should not be assumed to be the native interface of the bare OLED panel. Confirm panel interface, initialization and electrical requirements for a panel-only design.

Can the display be repeatedly folded?

A bend-radius entry does not establish repeated-folding durability. The reference document lists R = 3.5 mm, but the applicable bend zone, supporting layers and static or moving use must be reviewed for the selected construction.

Is touch available?

The documented reference kit includes multi-point touch with a Micro USB interface. Confirm whether touch is included in the ordered version and whether the touch stack supports the intended curvature.

How does 8.01 inches compare with 6.67 inches?

The 8.01-inch reference panel has a 4:3 display area with 2480 × 1860 resolution. The 6.67-inch panel has a tall 1080 × 2400 format. Choose according to the face opening, expression layout, curve and electronics space.

What information is needed for a quotation?

Send the application, quantity, available dimensions or enclosure drawing, target curve, host interface and touch requirement. Include the sample schedule and expected production quantity when available.
